Cleary, B. (1983). Dear Mr. Henshaw . NY: Morrow Junior Books. Leigh Botts is a young boy who wants to be a young author. He loves to write and writes many letters to an author he admires. However, he struggles with his writing and second guesses himself a lot. He also struggles with the absence of his father after his parents divorced. After receiving an honorable mention in the year book, he is able to get that confidence that he needed and continues to write. He is able to cope with his home life and eventually recognizes that his parents will not get back together. I enjoyed reading this book. It teaches you to be determined no matter what happens in your life. This book is great for any reader who admires another writer and wants to know how writers gets started on writing.
